Air France Japan Information
To passengers departing from Japan
Due to the rapid increase in the number of international flights and passengers departing for overseas destinations, airports are currently experiencing heavy congestion. In particular, it may take more than 60 minutes to pass through security checkpoints. It is recommended that you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight. We also recommend that passengers who have already checked in proceed to the security checkpoint as soon as possible. Roads and parking lots around the airport are very crowded during Golden week, Obon, the year-end and New Year's holidays. We recommend that you use public transportation. We appreciate your cooperation.
Updated Rules for Carrying and Using Power Banks on board
Effective April 24, 2026
Following revisions to international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has updated its guidelines for carrying and using power banks on board.
Please note:
- Power banks are not allowed in checked baggage.
- Power banks over 160Wh are not permitted on board.
- To prevent short circuits, please protect each battery individually, for example by covering terminals with tape or placing the battery in a case or plastic bag.
- Please do not store power banks in overhead bins.
- Each passenger may carry up to two power banks.
- Charging power banks using onboard power outlets is not permitted.
- Please avoid using power banks to charge other devices during the flight.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Relocation of SkyPriority services in Paris-Charles de Gaulle
Update: 02-02-2026
From 2 February to 17 April 2026, the SkyPriority check-in area in Terminal 2E (zones 6/7) at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport will be temporarily closed due to essential infrastructure work conducted by Aéroports de Paris (ADP). This project includes significant upgrades to the airport’s baggage handling system, including the construction of a new baggage bridge. These improvements are designed to enhance the overall baggage experience and increase operational efficiency.
During this period, all SkyPriority check-in services will be relocated to Terminal 2E, zones 4/5, on the departures level. Clear signage and dedicated staff will be available to assist customers and ensure a seamless experience.
Premium service offerings, including Ultimate and La Conciergerie counters as well as priority customer support, will remain fully operational. No additional waiting time is expected, and baggage handling procedures will continue as usual.
This temporary relocation applies to Ultimate, La Conciergerie, Business, and all SkyPriority-eligible customers.
NEW SERVICE AT INTERNET CHECK-IN: SCAN YOUR PASSPORT WITH YOUR SMARTPHONE TO SAVE TIME ON DEPARTURE
To save time at the airport, Air France and KLM have launched an option for departing passengers to scan their passport, ID card, etc. to reflect their check-in information when they check in online. Instead of manually entering passport information as in the past, departing passengers can easily scan it with their smartphone and automatically add their travel document details to the given fields of their check-in information, just as they would be read at an airport check-in machine. By scanning your passport information in advance, you can enjoy a smooth travel experience by eliminating the need for passport checks at the boarding gate even if you are at the boarding gate directly after online check-in.
